Welcome to the Coroner Case File Documentation Wiki!
Introduction
Welcome to the Coroner Case File Documentation Wiki! The Allegheny County Coroner Case files were preserved through a preservation project with support from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission and are available to researchers and the public at the University of Pittsburgh's Archives Service Center. This extensive documentation of Pittsburgh history contains evidence of the industrial accidents, homicides, suicides, epidemics, and the myriad causes of Allegheny County citizen's suspicious, unusual, or sudden deaths between 1887 and 1973. A student workforce, mainly comprised of history interns from the University of Pittsburgh, contributed to the task of preserving and identifying the records, and have transferred their knowledge of the records on this site. Check in frequently for more news on future projects!
